Isis Wings
Single or Double: Although the popularity of this prop has grown in recent times, the roots of the wings go back to ancient times, when gods and goddesses were portrayed bearing or wearing wings. The most notorious of these goddesses is Isis from the Ancient Egyptian Mythology and Religion.

    Zils
With music, or by themselves: In additional to conventional ways to use Finger Cymbals, Samra has developed an interactive technique incorporating combinations in which the dancers move in pleasing patterns across the floor, playing their own zils and sometimes the zils of other troupe members, creating an element of surprise and lots of fun for all.

    Spoons
Used in authentic Turkish style, or as a percussion for interpretive dances.

    Purely Egyptian

Sample rhythms, steps and dance stance from around Egypt: Zeffa, Ayub, Nubian, Saiidi, Felahi, Ghawazee , Shaabi, Modern Pop, and different styles of Raks Sharqi.

    Fusion just for Fun

Sometimes we take our dance too seriously. But, as long as we present an interpretive dance as the fruit of our imagination, we can create anything (well, almost). So, how about Belly Dance and Bluegrass ??? Belly samba? Belly Blues? Afro-Belly? Turkish and Tuvan?

    Props Unlimited
Sometimes, a dancer just wants to have fun!!! Artistic freedom entitles a dancer to use whatever resource she needs to capture a special audience and to assist her in the interpretation of his/her art. It is very important to represent an interpretive dance as such and not attribute any authenticity or link to a culture, if such is not true. But as long as no culture is misrepresented, a dancer's limit is only her imagination. Samra can guide you through many ways to use tambourines, painted frame drums, painted finger cymbals, fans (folding, feather, fabric), and ... stuffed parrots, soap bubbles, etc.

    Costume tips

How to make or correct costume bras, belts, etc and help them fit, Samra has been sewing since she was 10 years old and she used to make all her professional costumes. She still does when time and creative urges coincide.

    Hafla Games
Samra has created and compiled many dance related activities be used at recitals, Hafla, or just to throw in a class once in a while for review of movements or fun. Some of these activities encourage dancers to research cultural information, learn about rhythms, and much more.
